FAQ-1688 Schedule Windows Automatic Reboot
HOW TO SCHEDULE WINDOWS AUTOMATIC REBOOT
If you are manually rebooting your computer weekly or monthly to keep it working well, you can automate that reboot from the windows scheduler with a simple reboot command. Here's how to do that:
-
Press Start, and in the search box type “Task Scheduler.” Find Task Scheduler in your list of options and click it.
-
Under the ACTIONS menu select CREATE BASIC TASK
-
Choose a name for the task (For example "Auto Reboot Computer"), type it in the Name box and click Next.
-
Select Daily (for a daily reboot) and click Next
-
Type the time you want to restart the computer. You should set this for the middle of the night after the last call processing runs, click NEXT.
-
Select START A PROGRAM and click NEXT.
-
Click Browse and navigate to %SystemRoot%\System32 (that’s going to be C:\Windows\System32 on most computers). Find the file named Shutdown (.exe) and click Open. Type /F /R in the Add arguments (optional) box and click Next.
-
Click Finish.
